Tips: How to wash shelled periwnkles

Periwinkles are sea foods. They are mainly eaten in the riverine areas of Nigeria.
The shell looks brownish black but when removed from its shell, it is light green in colour with black circle like stuff which is usually called the ‘ear’.
To use unshelled periwinkle in your soup, the ‘ear’ should be removed so that it does not stick to your gum and make you feel uncomfortable while eating.
